The documentary film A GARDEN EXPERIENCE: Growing Organic, has now been screened a number of times since its completion last fall. Both El Paso County Nature Centers: Bear Creek and Fountain Creek Nature Centers have viewed the film as well as local garden clubs and other continuing education community groups. Backyard and community gardening is going through a revival!
Each time we’ve shown the film, a couple of our Charmaine Nymann Bear Creek Community gardener “stars” have accompanied us and enthusiastically shared information about how and when they joined the community garden, what they planted, what successes and failures they’ve had, and how they share their produce with other community service groups.
A few weeks ago, I harvested the last of the squash from our own backyard garden to enjoy eating over the winter. After all, that’s what veggie gardening is really all about – eating good, organic, homegrown food!
